From the inside to the outside
Nowadays the preaching in churches mostly is about grace and how much God loves us.
It’s so true, we probably never realize how great His love is.
His grace is a great wonder for all of us. The undeserved grace that all believers receive.
We are accepted and our names are written in Heaven. So we have a living hope, a future with Him for eternity. We are forever connected with Jesus. And that’s why it makes sense that so many preachings are about that subject.
Maybe you think at this moment, when starts the ‘but’. But there is not a but at all. 😉 However there is an “and”. Following Jesus means, not only to enjoy the victory. There are other issues too, like: “gratefulness, praying, obeying” We have part at the battle.”
In the first place we need moments to kneel at Jesus feet, to listen and to learn from Him and to enjoy His words. Like the story of Martha and Mary. When Martha complained about her sister, Jesus answered her:
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42 NKJV
It’s good to thank Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross. It was all about our salvation. Besides that, we have to response to His great commission too. For there is a time to learn and there is a time to practice. .
Our purpose is to follow Jesus. And He provokes His disciples to act, like He did.
It’s magnificent that we have received the Holy Spirit to encourage us, to lead us, to make us capable to do what He is asking from us. And yes He uses us with the skills we have and even more. He also provokes us to do the uncomfortable things. However it’s not for every christian to go to Yemen, Iraq or other dangerous places. Sometimes it’s even uncomfortable to speak about Jesus to our neighbors or to our friends. If we follow Him we receive so much of His love, so much, that we can’t keep it for our own.So we have to share! We need to walk every day in that so called “first love”
My own experiences of the moments that I left my comfort zone, where the greatest moments that Jesus could show His presence to me. There are moments of healing, encouraging, wisdom, and many, leadings to persons of peace. Of Course there are also rejections but in spite of all those negative reactions. People don‘t reject us. They reject the one who wanted to save them and that is Jesus Himself.
Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.’ But I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.
Luke 10:2-12 NKJV
So there is a time to kneel near Jesus, to pray and to listen to Him, and there is a time to act, to be a light in this world to help Jesus to save those who are lost.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
I just hope, that preachings in churches are also about all the other aspects of the gospel! For churches should have open windows and doors, so that Jesus light can flow from the inside to the outside and that all our meetings are welcome places to heal and to bring the harvest to the Father.
14(Prov. 4:18; John 8:12); Phil. 2:15“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they Mark 4:21; Luke 8:16; Phil. 2:15 light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, 1 Pet. 2:12 that they may see your good works and (John 15:8); 1 Cor. 14:25 glorify your Father in heaven.
